Rising with the Breeze for Native American-Style Flute and Piano
An atmostpheric piece for Native American-Style Flute (minor pentatonic scale) with piano accompaniment. Duration approximately 4’20”.
The flute part is notated in Nakai notation (i.e. F-sharp minor with sharpened 6th), so it can be played on flutes in any key. Piano parts are provided in F minor, F-sharp minor, G minor and A minor (i.e. the most common keys of mid-range Native American-style flutes). The style of accompaniment would also lend itself to being played on an acoustic guitar (and there are chord symbols in the piano part to assist with this).
I discovered Native Amercian-style Flutes whilst training as a sound therapist and have found them to be very expressive and relaxing instruments to play. Although I usually just improvise unaccompanied, I decided to try writing some simple pieces, as there doesn't appear to be much notated original repertoire available.
N.B. The demo recording on the "Miscellaneous" page is recorded in F minor (432Hz tuning) with a fleshed-out backing track.
